I have just put the boys to bed after our trip to see 'Man of Steel'.
Josh spent most of the film with his fingers in his ears - I totally agree with him that it was loud. Mr Snyder take note: being loud does not equate to exciting - just noisy. Nathan says he loved it but, as the wife just pointed out, this may have more to do with him enjoying the chance to watch a 12A.
Enjoyed parts of the film immensely - interestingly enough the back story elements with the very good Kevin Costner. Mr Snyder - more Kevin Costner would have imbued the film with some soul. In fact, the parts with Kevin Costner and Diane Lane (the elder Kents) were probably my favourite bits (is this because I grew up with them, they are the better actors, or just that they are better-drawn characters?). Josh was always asking after the welfare of the Kent family's dog. He didn't seem very worried about the family-members' fate!
The big set pieces got a little wearing after a while because was all so loud. Louder. AND THEN LOUDER!.
Amy Adams was greatly watchable as ever, even if the sexual chemistry between her and Henry Cavill was non-exisistent. Good to see her at the finale comforting a protagonist who had had to wrestle with how he could save his race and the humans he loved. Well he probably deserved it after all those hours in the gym!
